Check out that welder. It’s in a wooden box. Yes a wooden box. Safe.. well you make the call. Not to mention his welding protection is a cardboard mask with two eye holes cut out.. Got to love it.
The beads on these welds are terrible. I’d be surprised if the bench doesn’t blow over in the future. Basically instead of a nice steady bead he is just making a bunch of tack welds that lump together.
I just came onto your post and found it quite interesting. I am also associated with Weld, Welder Jobs, Welding Schools, Welding Tips, and love to enjoy the stuff on the same as its rarely found on internet. Thanks again for writing such a good post.
Yeah, I’ve seen other pictures of Chinese welders holding cardboard with eye cutouts to cover their face, sunglasses for eye protection. Real sad.
I’ve had this happen at my current place of employment. We use materials that are not good to breath with. But no one seems to care. If it was me I would be spending my own money on purchasing protective equipment. We gave them gear and still they fight not to wear it.. Soo… whatever.
But I know some do not have to means to. I just checked Taobao and a 3M “real” welding mask is about 1500RMB. Probably his salary. I know for sure his boss isn’t going to buy one. I also see super cheap ones for around 100 RMB. So I guess he would rather risk injury and future problems for saving 100RMB. But then on the other hand you can eat for a month on 100RMB and 3.50RMB noodles. To each their own.
