Well, currently I have mounted myself in front of my mac, again, but only this time to watch some movies. I went and bought some movies this week but haven’t gotten a chance to watch them. I got Iron Man 2 (seen it once already). Yes folks, on dvd. I love you Phillip Morris, Avatar (seen it twice already), and a Chinese/Hong Kong flick called 爱情故事,or basic love. The girl at the store said it was good. But hey, who knows. My excuse for a chick flick, they talk slower in chick flicks and I need to practice. So there.
I just cracked me a soda pop and chips. Not really soda pop but really chips. Before I begin my conquest I would like to share a few things that have been on my mind this week.
I was walking when guy on a bike come up behind me on the left, got just in front of me, hacked it right, cut me off to go to a place on the right. Gee you couldn’t of slowed down waited till I passed your planned trajectory and then hacked it over. Nope, got to cut someone off.
Our screen door that was just installed has a problem of coming off the track. Nothing new. Nothing really worked perfect here the first time around. The fix, or at least how I would of fixed it, level the bottom track and bring it up 2cm. Table saw, wood, level, done. The Chinese guys, stand around and talk about the problem. Explain to me the problem. Try to pack a bunch of caulk under the track to lift it up, tell me they can’t fix it. Well, at least they’ll have to come back, they’ve only been paid half. The lesson here, only pay half up front and never say ok..
I’ve bee watching all the more recent shows online. I have to say that The Pacific is brilliant. I love it. Not only because I digg, Tom Hanks and Spielberg, but the acting, effects, it’s unbelievably real. If this doesn’t open people’s eyes to war, then well, they are complete idiots.
Alright the soda pop is getting cold.
Peace.

I have a tv. I do not have tv. I do have a dvd player. So with the cheapness of the dvds here I have been watching something that I should of started long ago. I’m going to get a told you so from someone in Colorado, but, Battlestar Galactica is straight up awesome. I watch it pretty much everyday. I miss the tv shows that I used to watch back home. Although most of them are in between seasons so it kinda works out. Not much to do lately. It’s been raining and foggy. Humid, etc.
And on another note, the people above me have decided to chisel their entire apartment with air hammers everyday, Good deal. I’m stoked.
Oh, and on another nother note, I don’t know if I mentioned this but I got to see Transformers 2 in a theater here. Movie was awesome. I sat in the middle of a theater of Chinese people. The interesting thing is that there where parts of the movie that I laughed at and everyone else didn’t. Funny. I guess that the Chinese don’t quite understand English humor. But they do understand one thing: Slow mo Megan Fox running shots. How could you not, they’re universally understood.

Oh junk. I got deja vu. Right now. For some reason. In any case I am watching Eagle Eye and blogging away. I was just thinking about the state of media here and China and and America. For one, this dvd that I am watching costs 1$ here. Maybe 2$. In the states, 15$ maybe 20$. The difference? The one here is pirated. Yes a copy. But who cares right? Well I don’t know. All the movies here are pirated. I watched Wolverine last night. It was good, but it didn’t have the special effects. Just cgi templates. It wasn’t even finished. Crazy huh? You remember my post on fake things in China. This relates to it as well. Why buy legit copies of movies and sell them when you can copy that crap for free and sell it. Exactly. So here I am. Contributing to the down fall of movies. I would feel more guilty if I didn’t have to spend so much on a dvd in the States. Same with music. If a cd of music was 10 bucks instead of 15 I would feel better about it. But until then I will support the artists that I truly believe in by buying merch and seeing concerts. Maybe then the music industry will stop producing crap and make some lovable sounds that I want to hear. Hell they might even give some of the money back to the artist. Nah, I doublt it.
So while I am here I am going to buy all the dvds and shows I ever wanted. Why, because they’re cheap. When in Greece, do as the Greeks do.

If you had to go somewhere for six months, couldn’t watch American tv, what would you bring for movies? Well this is what I am bringing and why.
The Prestige – Awesome movie. Well shot. Great story.
House of Flying Daggers – Visually one of my favorites. Great cinematography. Great action, love story, and it’s in Mandarin.
Garden State – Fun movie. Sound track is hard to beat. Wonderful story.
300 – It’s got mind blowing action.
Walk the Line – Awesome story. Awesome music.
Indiana Jones – Brought them all. Can’t get sick of Indy.
American Pie – Can’t get sick of comedies in the gutter.
Gladiator – Special effects are so good it makes my hair stand up.
You’ve Got Mail – Classic.
Seabiscuit – Again I love great cinematography. Also based on a true story. Makes it more awesome.
The Bourne Identity – Awesome
Signs – M. Night, one of my favorite directors.
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon – Got to have some Kung Fu.
Matrix – Still looks mind blowing to this day.
Various snowboard videos – For myself as well as some shreds over there.
Juno – Soundtrack is awesome, movie is awesome, all is awesome.
V for Vendetta – Can’t go anywhere without Natalie Portman.
Borat – Funny.
Eternal Sunshine of the spotless mind – Michel Gondry is an amazing director. Charlie Kaufman an amazing writer.
Memoirs of a Geisha – Unbelievable cinematography. Visually one of my top favorites.
Finding Neverland – The story is amazing.
Closer – Crazy story.
Finding Nemo – Do I really have to give a reason.
So that’s it. I could of brought Star Wars or any other from my dvd collection, but you can’t bring them all. Although it contains some of my top favorites, this is by no means a favorite list. I also picked these because I thought that they represented some of my culture as well. I would imagine that they will not only be watched by myself but by new friends. As for the chick flicks.. Not sure how they got in there.. But no use in leaving them behind……
My carry ons contain all my camera gear and other various electronics. I probably should get a book. Maybe. I doubt that I will have time tonight. Oh well, I got a new wired to look at anyway.
