The update

May 30th, 2011 § 2

So for those that don’t care I am going to give an update anyway. I have had a swollen throat for the past two months. I’ve been to the doctors like 4 times. Today I went to Shanghai to go to what I can only perceive as one of the best places that you can go.

The ear nose throat hospital. E.N.T. Hospital of Fudan University. Not only that, I went to the VIP section paid a ton more money by Chinese standards, all to see the best docs they got.

And what do they say. They say the same thing that the past doc in my podunk town said. So I guess that I should of listened to him. Either way I got some meds and a sigh of relief. At least I hope that I can trust these homies.

I also went to the dentist. I ended up going to Kowa Dental in the Jinmao building. Dam place looked like a five star hotel. Hell they even spoke English. But yeah, I paid for it. Although they are not as expensive as the States, they are expensive by China standards. But you get what you pay for, English, foreign trained dudes, and little hot dental assistants. I probably will go back to get what I need done, done. They seem competent enough.

Notes on why China is awesome. Public transportation. Subway, and the long distance bus. I had to ride a bus to get to Shanghai. About a two hour trip. Gr to Detroit. But all I had to do is roll up the the bus station anytime I want and buy a ticket and practically hope on. They have that many buses that you really never have to wait. Awesome.

I called the dentist and wanted an appointment today. Bam, 3 hrs later vamoose I gots me an appointment.

It just seems that some of the cards are stacked weird in the States. Or rather that is just the way it is. You have to have a car, and maybe just maybe you can get an appointment with a dentist later this week.

God forbid you have to or want to see an ENT specialist. Your going to have to wait weeks, as for me, I roll up stand in line for two hours and bam. Gots me a old Chinese guy ramming a mirror down my throat saying hello to my stomach party. I just hope this guys is actually a doc and not some, uh, random Chinese bloke.

I will be posting artsy, very expensive, and trendy photographs of today’s festivities so by all means come back and waste more time while you are supposed to me at work. Because God knows you all don’t come here for real information.

Headed to Hong Kong

May 21st, 2011 § 0

This post is going to be weird, mainly because it’s out of order. I wrote it when I was heading to HK, and well, I’m already back. But whatever.

Subie

So here I am heading to Hong Kong to get my new visa. Hopefully if everything goes well, I will be the lucky recipient of a shiny new Z-visa. Which means that I can be employed in China. Yeah.

So with that I have to travel. Currently I am sitting in a McDonalds wiating to check in and then be told that my flight is going to be delayed. Because that happens every single time you fly in this country. Just the way it is.

So, when I travel I like to write down whatever comes to my mind and whatever random thoughts I have. S here we go.

There is a dude that was just on the phone. He was speaking English. Now he is speaking Chinese. His Chinese is a more southern than northern. He had to of studied in the States. Possibly a duck that has returned?

Stanley Street Area

There are a hell of a lot of foreigners here at the airport. Just one of those places I guess. Starbucks is also one of them.

So here I am on the plane. I just finished eating my rice beef what not and am not listening to some music, which I rarely do for any length of time now days. I used to have a job where all I did was listen to music. Believe me that I listen to a whole lot of it. But now I really don’t have time to squander my time rocking out to the latest and greatest. I guess that one of the things about growing up.

One of the things you notice on the plane is that all the flight attendants are hot, tall, and well, are hot. From what I know there are no laws against hiring dissemination here. (edit: there are laws, but with most laws in China, enforcement is uh rather lacking I guess) If there is, they sure don’t enforce it. Thusly, all the flight attendants are hot. Making my day that much better.

But I will never be able to ever date a flight attendant. I bet that they get hit on all the time from businessman with loads of cash. I can’t compete with that. Even with my devilish good looks. I’ll live to fight another day.

I think that I want to buy guitar again. I had one before and could actually play it, however sadly I couldn’t bring it to China. Nah what am I talking about, I got cooler things to do. Or am planing to do anyway.

In Hong Kong

May 21st, 2011 § 0

Something I wrote while in HK….

Stanley Street Area

The differences between Hong Kong and China are quite great.

All the girls here and I mean everyone wears makeup. And basically the entire girl population smells like a flower. I suppose that there are a few reasons that this would be a difference. Quite possibly because the girls here in Hong Kong make more money so they are able to afford these things. Also I think that Hong Kongs culture is more about, well, looking good. When you get here you will see all kinds of advertisements everywhere for beauty products, skin products, watches, suits. That’s just the way it is here. Not to say it’s bad, but really, it makes you kind of depressed. I’m not wearing a suit, I can’t afford a Rolex, so how the hell would I get a hot long girl kind of a feeling. Which really if all girl are said hot, then even the low self esteem girls would be to. Two low self esteem people. The perfect match.

Also there are a ton of girls here that look like geeks. Yes that’s right, geeks. And it’s awesome. I feel like Hong Kong is split up into two camps. The business man or women and the the geek man or women. I really don’t see much in between. Although I am sure that there is. It doesn’t see all that prevalent. Now I for one am all about the geek camp.

Hong Kong

Other diferences. NFC or paying by Octopus card. Hong Kong is also all about tech. The Octopus card is the subway card that you can load with money and thus use to pay anywhere else too. FAST. Starbucks, McDonald’s, etc, just hold the card to the little reader and BAM.

I have to say that living aboard has really opened my eyes as far as living goes. There are so many places better than the States, as far as specific areas are concerned. Like, why the hell doesn’t the states have a card like this, or RF cards that you can use to pay. I’m going to guess that the major cities probably already do. I suppose it’s all a game by the major corps to get more money. Who knows.

Parking

October 28th, 2010 § 0

I’ve been lazy and haven’t blogged about anything of real value. Or really even blogged at all. I have so much to talk about from America.

Until I can start a fire under my proverbial A, I leave you with this awesome parking job.

Enjoy.

Goodbye Colorado….. I’ll make you a deal, if you don’t cry neither will I, but I can’t promise anything.

October 5th, 2010 § 0

So my original plan was to visit a few cities to see a few friends, then something happened. I found out that a friend in Colorado was getting married. This meant one thing, all my close friends that I wanted to visit were going to be in the same city at the same time, at the same wedding. I couldn’t miss it.

So I booked and and rolled into Vail with fury. It was amazing to see everyone again. Truly amazing. It may have only been a hour or even 10 minutes, but it was worth it all. I feel awesome to have the friends what I do. I wish all of them the best with whatever they may do and will do all I can to help them get where they are going.

I want to thank everyone who helped me with rides, a couch to crash on, and coffee. I met some new friends that I wish I would of had when I actually lived in Vail. But, the chips have fallen different ways. I am glad to have met them and am officially Facebook friends with them now. Which means random messages about inside jokes and other random things. I can’t wait.

Congrats to the newly weds, I wish you the best.

Peace out CO. Maybe someday we will cross paths again.

I’m sitting at the Las Vegas airport wondering whether I should continue on.

September 30th, 2010 § 0

There is a custodian cleaning the already spotless floor. He looks like a greaser from a movie. He’s made the same lap about 3 times now. I am wondering whether I should continue on. I could just go gamble. I am heading to Vail to see some old friends and get my fair share of the high altitude air.

America is weird. Having lived outside of the States for about 18 months I find myself wondering what the hell is going on. For instance, I travel in China a bit, mostly fly, and when confronted with airline travel within the States I just wonder what foreigners think. you must remove your shoes, be stared at, inspected and frowned upon. Remove your belt and whatever else you got. Where as in China you don’t have to remove your belt, or shoes, hell even you cell phone. It’s a little less paranoid. I am all for flying safe but when does it become, lets all get naked and strip searched, you do want to keep our skies safe right?

As for adjusting to America, well, it’s awkward. I find myself speaking softer, slower, more laid back. I feel weird speaking to regular people. Not sure why. I have been in LA for a stint. We will see how I feel when I get to a place that I have actually lived in. Maybe that will make a difference. I roll into Vail today. I’ve had some lag from the time change. That could be affecting me somehow. During the night I seem to be the most awake.

So good times. I’ve been taking photos so when I get a chance to fix’em up, I’ll post them on here for all the world to see in all their glory.

Or something like that.

Where Am I?
